Description Badger: Guardian of the Tarn Jane ‘Janer’ Sandles – UK medium: Acrylics on oak size: 38cm wide x 26cm high x 18mm thick – freestanding High in the hills a dark dragon guards a precious water source on which all the local wildlife relies. Hare hunkers in her form not far from the Tarn as the wild wind blows, stirring the autumn leaves. A tiny shrew shelters next to her, his tiny whiskers ever vigilant. Inspired by a place I once lived in the remote hills of mid Wales—there was a rocky ridge which to me resembled a dragon’s spine—I named it the Dragon’s back. There was a resident hare in our fields so I brought her to the scene.
